All the new Bank Holidays to be added to 2024 calendar
The UK bank holidays for 2024 have been confirmed and many will fall on different dates to this year.
Sometimes bank holidays are moved due to falling on weekends, or because annual holidays such as Easter move to new dates. And with the new King’s coronation having taken place this year, there will unfortunately be one less bank holiday in next year’s calendar compared with 2023.
Currently the next bank holiday in England and Wales is Monday, December 25 (Christmas Day), with Boxing Day (December 26) also a bank holiday. The first bank holiday of 2024 will be New Year’s Day, Monday January 1.

And while this year’s Easter bank holidays fell on April 15 and April 18, in 2024 they will move. Good Friday will be observed on March 29 while Easter will fall on Sunday, March 31.
This means Easter Monday, the second bank holiday of the long weekend, will fall on April 1.
May will have two bank holidays, as opposed to three this year, with the first of these falling on Monday, May 6. The second will arrive three weeks later on Monday, May 27.
The August bank holiday will also move to August 26, having fallen on August 28 in 2023. Then Christmas Day and Boxing Day (December 25 and December 26) complete the list of bank holidays for 2024.
